Abstrak

Kajian ini meneliti komunikasi jururawat dengan kumpulan pesakit yang tidak sedarkan diri dan yang disedasikan di Unit Rawatan Intensif (URI). Secara spesifik, kajian ini bertujuan melihat kandungan komunikasi verbal jururawat-pesakit dan juga untuk mengukur tempoh masa komunikasi yang diambil oleh jururawat semasa memberikan jagaan perawatan kepada kumpulan pesakit tersebut. Kajian deskriptif ini melibatkan 20 jururawat yang dipilih secara rawak sistematik di sebuah Unit Rawatan Intensif (URI). Data diperoleh dengan merakamkan komunikasi jururawat-pesakit semasa memberikan jagaan perawatan. Data demografi jururawat pula diperoleh melalui rujukan rekod peribadi dan temu bual secara individu. Data dianalisis secara manual yang membabitkan statistik deskriptif dan analisis kandungan komunikasi yang berlaku. Kajian ini memberikan gambaran tentang kepentingan komunikasi antara jururawat dengan pesakit yang tidak sedarkan diri atau disedasikan dalam proses pemulihan fizikal, mental dan psikologi pesakit.
